Chloroplast genome architecture and phylogenomics of the desert sand-fixing shrub Corethrodendron scoparium
Corethrodendron scoparium (Fisch. & C.A.Mey.) Fisch. & Basiner is an ecologically vital sand-fixing shrub in arid northwestern China. However, its chloroplast genome structure and phylogenetic position within Corethrodendron remain poorly understood. This study reports the complete chloroplast genome of C. scoparium (123,115 bp , GC 34.5%), encoding 114 genes (80 protein-coding, 30 tRNA, 4 rRNA). It lacks inverted repeat (IR) regions, representing an IR loss type in Fabaceae. Phylogenomic analysis strongly supported C. scoparium as part of a monophyletic clade with C. fruticosum and C. multijugum. This finding provides valuable genomic resources for evolutionary and ecological studies of desert plants.
