Analysis of Angle Valve Flow Characteristics through Numerical Analysis and Porous Media Modelling

A numerical analysis was performed on a reduced-sized angle valve. Using dimensionless numbers such as the Reynolds number and valve loss coefficient, flow characteristics of the angle valve were analyzed under various flow rate conditions. In addition, for analysis on a full-sized angle valve, the disk region was modeled as a porous media and the results were compared with the experimental data to validate. Through the results, the tendency of the valve loss coefficient according to flow rate was identified and the reliability of the porous media simulation analysis were validated, and it was considered helpful in modelling the full-sized valve.
