Orbital metastasis of ovarian carcinoma with systemic involvement: a case report and literature review

Objective: To describe a case of orbital metastasis secondary to ovarian carcinoma, highlighting its clinical presentation, diagnosis, and management.Observations: Orbital metastases are an unusual manifestation that represent 1 to 13% of orbital neoplasias and are more common in breast and lung cancer.Clinically, they may present with proptosis, paralysis of ocular movements, decreased visual acuity, or enophthalmos.Diagnosis is made by imaging studies and histopathological examination. It is described the case of a 49-year-old patient with ptosis, proptosis, decreased vision, whose studies revealed malignant infiltration of the orbit, ascites, and abdominal lymphadenopathy, consistent with ovarian carcinoma with systemic metastasis. Conclusion: Orbital metastases are rare, and their prognosis is unfavorable.Patients with orbital signs and a history of neoplasia should be considered.Their management is usually palliative, as illustrated in the case.
