Organic aquaculture in the semiarid climate of the temperate latitudes of the Eurasian ecoregion

Modern reality dictates the need to develop innovative methods of the traditional agricultural sector that ensure the sustainable development of organic aquaculture in a semi-arid climate of temperate latitudes of the Eurasian ecoregion. Projects for the development of fish production by the method of organic aquaculture are becoming more and more attractive for conditions of a semi-arid climate of temperate latitudes. In the context of the greening of the industry and a number of restrictive measures in the organization of organic aquaculture, successful methods form advanced technologies that allow for efficient production. The authors assessed the prospects of approaches to growing organic products based on aqua crop rotation technology and aquaponics, taking into account the possibility of implementing temperate latitudes in a semi-arid climate. Integration of the processes of growing plant crops and hydrobionts through technologies of combined and alternating cultivation by methods of aqua rotation and aquaponics is proposed. The methods meet strict criteria for organic farming and aquaculture, ensuring a high level of environmental safety and preparing products for international certification as organic food. Insufficient development of scientific foundations for such farms significantly hinders the process of developing effective organic aquaculture. The key limiting factors for the introduction of such technologies are the lack of organic feed, namely certified formulations, highly efficient structures, integrated cultivation systems for aquatic organisms and plants.
