Homeplace-Centered Nursing Homecare for Older Adult Migrants
Older adult migrants often experience language barriers, cultural dissonance, fragmented continuity of care, and inequitable access to home health care. Existing nursing theories do not fully explain how migration, aging, cultural identity, relational care, and the meaning of home intersect in practice. Guided by Walker and Avant's theory derivation approach, this paper uses bell hooks' conceptualization of homeplace as the source conceptual domain and integrates nursing theories and empirical evidence to develop a situation-specific Homeplace-Centered Nursing Homecare Theory. The theory identifies 8 interrelated domains, nursing roles, and relational propositions supporting culturally responsive, relational, equity-oriented care across practice, education, research, and policy.
