A Novel Gamified Approach to Measuring Dating Violence Attitudes: The Role of Relationship Self-Efficacy Among University Students
This cross-sectional study examined dating violence attitudes and relationship self-efficacy among 381 university students, using a novel gamified platform—a field first—to boost engagement and reduce social desirability bias. Participants rejected violence-tolerant attitudes (DAVS M = 1.91), with sexual violence rated most acceptable. Male students scored higher than females on DAVS total ( p < .001) and all five subscales ( p < .05). Independent predictors included male gender (β = .237), younger age (β = −.120), relationship duration of 1–3 years (β = .123), and lower relationship self-efficacy (β = −.334). Assessments took 10–12 min; whether gamification improves engagement or reduces bias warrants comparative testing.
