From Completed Explanation to a Learning Loop: Practical Validation, Feedback-Based Revision, and Stage-Based Assessment

Preprint v1.0. This manuscript has not undergone peer review. Expressive outputs can provide evidence of learning, but completing an expressive task does not, by itself, warrant judgments about knowledge, competence, or appropriate use beyond the task’s content, conditions, and scope of validation. Situated in course assessment in Christian higher education, this conceptual article draws on Scripture and a framework of source, order, temporal process, fruit, and ultimate orientation to examine warranted judgments of stage completion. Through conceptual analysis, engagement with assessment and Christian education literature, and a constructed case, it distinguishes three objects of validation: knowledge claims, learners’ capabilities, and consequences of use. It proposes a complete, open learning loop in which validation determines subsequent action: identified problems lead to revision and revalidation; demonstrated attainment receives bounded recognition, with opportunities for further practice and extension; and insufficient evidence leads to suspended judgment. Correction encompasses learners, task conditions, standards, and assessment conclusions, together with support for renewed learning. The vertical dimension informs purposes, dependence on God, responses to correction, and the use of achievements. Scriptural teaching is distinguished from educational design, disciplinary correction from repentance, and procedural outcomes from the spiritual fruit that comes from the Holy Spirit. The article’s central contribution connects evidential scope, assessors’ corrigibility, and subsequent educational responsibility, enabling time-limited courses to recognize attainment while remaining open to reality. The proposed arrangements and institutional mechanisms require empirical investigation.
