Best Practices in Open and Reproducible Antarctic Marine Sediment Core Research
Abstract Marine sediment cores from Antarctica are archived by national programs for reuse and resampling by future researchers, creating a resourceful way to conduct Antarctic science. With reduced budgets to conduct Antarctic field work and to collect new sediment cores offshore of the icy continent, the accessibility of these archived cores and availability of core data are in high demand. We present a framework from a researcher's perspective for best practices in Antarctic marine sediment core research for some of the most common analyses applied, including sedimentological, geochemical, micropaleontological, and geochronologic data to preserve data in a consistent manner and to best serve the research community for the years to come.
