Czech palynologists Blanka Pacltová and Magda Konzalová

Professor Pacltová worked at the Department of Geology and Palaeontology at Charles University in Prague for fifty-four years. She founded the Czech palynological school and trained numerous prominent Czech and international palynologists and palaeobotanists. Her primary focus was Cretaceous pollen, but she also published work on Tertiary pollen and pollen from recent mountain peat bogs. One of her most significant contributions was her pioneering research into the Czech Moldanubicum, one of the fundamental geological formations of the Bohemian Massif consisting primarily of igneous and metamorphic rocks. Through her work, she conclusively demonstrated the Palaeozoic age of the Moldanubicum. Magda Konzalová was one of her many students who continued palynological research beyond the borders of the Czech Republic.
