Registered expectations about Dune: Part Three (2026), deposited before its release
Two predictions about Denis Villeneuve's Dune: Part Three (release 18 December 2026), deposited before the film's release so that the film can test them. Prediction A: Paul Atreides will say in his own voice that he had no choice, and the film will undercut that claim. Prediction B: if Chani dies, the film will show that Paul foresaw her death and will connect it to a decision of his own, not only to fate or to his enemies. The deposit defines each term, sets out scoring rules (held / held as in the novel / failed / void), and states in advance what each outcome would mean. It gives the comparison with Frank Herbert's Dune Messiah (page references to the Hodder & Stoughton 2017 edition), records what was publicly known about the film on 9 October 2026, and lists the six original private expectations with the reasons four were dropped. The author will score the predictions within two weeks of first viewing, before reading reviews, and publish the result as a new version of this record. The predictions belong to an article in preparation on foreknowledge and choice in Villeneuve's films; the article's argument is not included.
