Pilot Study on Development and Empirical Construct Validation of the Workplace Tripartite Gender Dynamics Scale (WTGDS)

Pilot Study on Development and Empirical Construct Validation of the Workplace Tripartite Gender Dynamics Scale (WTGDS) Preeti Saini* Dr. Pankaj Kumar Chaturvedi** Contemporary organizational settings face intricate ideological tensions surrounding gender equity, where authentic egalitarian advocacy is frequently conflated with retributive or distorted ideological expressions. This study details the psychometric development and empirical validation of the Workplace Tripartite Gender Dynamics Scale (WTGDS), a diagnostic instrument designed to operationalize Feminism, Pseudofeminism, and Patriarchy across behavioral intent (Part 1: situational workplace scenarios) and cognitive-normative assertions (Part 2: attitudinal belief statements). Administered to an authentic corporate cohort (N = 60), the scale’s structural stability across functional halves was established using JASP-verified standardized Spearman-Brown split-half reliability coefficients: Feminism (rsb = 0.726), Pseudofeminism (rsb = 0.846), and Patriarchy (rsb = 0.654). Construct, convergent, divergent, and criterion-related validity were evaluated via Pearson bivariate correlation matrices against established standardized benchmarks. Total Feminism demonstrated strong convergent validity with the Gender Equality Principles (GEP) scale (r = 0.626, p < .001) and sharp divergent validity against Pseudofeminism (r = -0.865, p < .001) and Patriarchy (r = -0.772, p < .001). Total Pseudofeminism exhibited robust positive criterion concordance with Traditional Gender Bias beliefs (ATGNS: r = 0.803, p < .001), Total Patriarchy (r = 0.787, p < .001), and Perceived Everyday Discrimination (EDS: r = 0.442, p < .001). These findings empirically confirm the central thesis hypothesis that pseudofeminist attitudes represent ideological distortions mirroring traditional bias rather than genuine egalitarian progress. The WTGDS offers a valid, structurally stable diagnostic tool for workplace diversity research, leadership assessment, and organizational development. *Research Scholar, Department of Psychology, Maharaja Agrasen Himalayan Garhwal University, Uttarakhand, India **Assistant Professor, Department of Psychology, Maharaja Agrasen Himalayan Garhwal University, Uttarakhand, India

Abstract

Pilot Study on Development and Empirical Construct Validation of the Workplace Tripartite Gender Dynamics Scale (WTGDS) Preeti Saini* Dr. Pankaj Kumar Chaturvedi** Contemporary organizational settings face intricate ideological tensions surrounding gender equity, where authentic egalitarian advocacy is frequently conflated with retributive or distorted ideological expressions. This study details the psychometric development and empirical validation of the Workplace Tripartite Gender Dynamics Scale (WTGDS), a diagnostic instrument designed to operationalize Feminism, Pseudofeminism, and Patriarchy across behavioral intent (Part 1: situational workplace scenarios) and cognitive-normative assertions (Part 2: attitudinal belief statements). Administered to an authentic corporate cohort (N = 60), the scale’s structural stability across functional halves was established using JASP-verified standardized Spearman-Brown split-half reliability coefficients: Feminism (rsb = 0.726), Pseudofeminism (rsb = 0.846), and Patriarchy (rsb = 0.654). Construct, convergent, divergent, and criterion-related validity were evaluated via Pearson bivariate correlation matrices against established standardized benchmarks. Total Feminism demonstrated strong convergent validity with the Gender Equality Principles (GEP) scale (r = 0.626, p < .001) and sharp divergent validity against Pseudofeminism (r = -0.865, p < .001) and Patriarchy (r = -0.772, p < .001). Total Pseudofeminism exhibited robust positive criterion concordance with Traditional Gender Bias beliefs (ATGNS: r = 0.803, p < .001), Total Patriarchy (r = 0.787, p < .001), and Perceived Everyday Discrimination (EDS: r = 0.442, p < .001). These findings empirically confirm the central thesis hypothesis that pseudofeminist attitudes represent ideological distortions mirroring traditional bias rather than genuine egalitarian progress. The WTGDS offers a valid, structurally stable diagnostic tool for workplace diversity research, leadership assessment, and organizational development. *Research Scholar, Department of Psychology, Maharaja Agrasen Himalayan Garhwal University, Uttarakhand, India **Assistant Professor, Department of Psychology, Maharaja Agrasen Himalayan Garhwal University, Uttarakhand, India
