Seasonal Reservoir Release Analysis under PPO-Based Operating Constraints

This supplementary material provides additional experimental results for seasonal water-release management using Proximal Policy Optimization (PPO) under different seasonal operating-constraint configurations. The document includes two supplementary figures comparing seasonal cumulative releases to Prom and Cheon under historical operation and PPO configurations involving constraints for both locations or each location individually. Figure S1 presents seasonal cumulative releases to Prom. Introducing a Prom-only constraint increased the mean dry-season release from 9.11 to 14.81 million cubic meters (MCM) per season and improved the target attainment rate from 4.55% to 18.18%. Figure S2 presents seasonal cumulative releases to Cheon. Introducing a Cheon-only constraint increased the mean dry-season release from 32.91 to 36.75 MCM per season and improved the corresponding target attainment rate from 22.73% to 27.27%. These results demonstrate that PPO can incorporate seasonal operating preferences into its release decisions. Supplementary contents: Figure S1: Seasonal cumulative Prom release under historical operation and different PPO seasonal-constraint configurations. Figure S2: Seasonal cumulative Cheon release under historical operation and different PPO seasonal-constraint configurations.
