Background: Needle stick injuries (NSIs), or sharps injuries, are accidental skin punctures caused by contaminated needles or other sharp objects in medical settings. Objectives: To assess the knowledge regarding the prevention of needle-stick injuries among GNM first-year students. To assess the effectiveness of a Structured Teaching Programme (STP) on knowledge regarding needle-stick injuries. To find out an association between pre-test scores on knowledge regarding the prevention of needle-stick injuries and their selected demographic variables. Methods: A pre-experimental one-group pre-test/post-test design was used. A sample size of 40 was selected using a non-probability purposive sampling technique. Data were collected from samples in the Nursing Department of Jyoti College of Management Science and Technology, Bareilly, by means of a structured knowledge questionnaire. The reliability of the tool was r = 0.76, and analysis was done using descriptive and inferential statistics. Result: Regarding the overall pre-test knowledge scores of students, the majority of subjects (57.5%) had average knowledge, 25% had below-average knowledge, and 17.5% had good knowledge. Whereas, in the post-test, the majority of subjects (50%) had good knowledge, 47.5% had average knowledge, and 2.5% of subjects had below-average knowledge.
