The Entrepreneurial Side of the Mind: A Bibliometric Analysis of Neuroentrepreneurship Literature

Aim: This study seeks to clarify the concept of neuroentrepreneurship, positioned at the intersection of entrepreneurship and neuroscience, and to examine this field through a bibliometric analysis. Neuroentrepreneurship, first introduced into the literature in 2006, seeks to investigate entrepreneurial behavior and decision-making processes from a neuroscientific perspective.Method: The study conducted a search using the keyword "neuroentrepreneur**" in the Web of Science (WoS) and SCOPUS databases. The resulting publications were systematically analyzed according to their distribution by year, journal, country of origin, citation frequency, and key concepts. Furthermore, scientific mapping was conducted using VOSviewer software, and content analysis was employed to identify the methodologies and prominent themes of the publications. Results: As a result of the keyword searches, 15 publications were identified in the WoS database and 25 in the Scopus database. This suggests that the analysis focused on a limited number of publications, but the number of publications has increased over the years. Furthermore, it was determined that certain countries and journals are leading the field, and their citation rates reflect this. Most strikingly, the United States holds the highest publication count in both indexes. Furthermore, the content analysis indicates that neuroentrepreneurship studies primarily focus on concepts related to “entrepreneurial behavior”, “decision-making processes”, and “neuroscientific measurement methods”.Conclusion: The study revealed that neuroentrepreneurship remains an infant field of scholarly inquiry. It has been concluded that this field, due to its structure suitable for interdisciplinary approaches, offers significant opportunities for new research that will deepen the interaction between entrepreneurship and neuroscience.
