The Relationship of Burnout with Caregiving Burden in Parents of Physically Disabled Children: A Cross-Sectional Study

The aim of this study is to examine how burnout is correlated with caregiver burden among parents of physically disabled children. This study was conducted with cross-sectional and descriptive design. The study included 112 parents of physically disabled children who attended special education and rehabilitation centers. Data were collected using a Personal Information Form, the Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI), and the Zarit Burden Interview (ZBI). The participants’ mean scores were 17.38±7.917 for the Emotional Exhaustion Subscale of the MBI, 21.03±4.505 for the Personal Accomplishment Subscale of the MBI, and 32.32±13.475 for the ZBI. A weak, positive, and significant correlation was found between the parents’ age and ZBI score (r = 0.216, p = 0.023). There was a moderate, positive, and significant correlation between the scores of the MBI Emotional Exhaustion Subscale and the ZBI (r=0.472, p
