The genome sequence of Great willowherb, Epilobium hirsutum L., 1753 (Myrtales: Onagraceae)
We present a genome assembly of Epilobium hirsutum (Great willowherb; Streptophyta; Magnoliopsida; Myrtales; Onagraceae). The assembly consists of two haplotypes with total lengths of 336.04 megabases and 270.04 megabases. Most of haplotype 1 (97.71%) is scaffolded into 18 chromosomal pseudomolecules. Haplotype 2 was assembled to scaffold level. The mitochondrial sequences have lengths of 201.85 and 127.25 kilobases and the plastid genome assembly has a length of 161.03 kilobases. Gene annotation of this assembly by Ensembl identified 25,939 protein-coding genes. This assembly was generated as part of the Darwin Tree of Life project, which produces reference genomes for eukaryotic species found in Britain and Ireland.
