Transformative research for education and social justice: synthesis
As described in the guest editors’ introduction to this special issue, the issue focuses on the goals, preconditions, method(ologie)s, philosophy, ethics and outcomes of transformative critical ethnographic research. Through seven articles that direct interest towards the practice-relationships between ethnography and social transformation in educational contexts, it explores, analyses and describes these relationships in education contexts. This final article attempts to make a summary of the collective articles based on a synthesising cross-translation analysis. Along lines similar to those of meta-ethnography, this involves an attempt at systematically translating the findings, metaphors, and cultural concepts of the different ethnographic studies into one another to generate overarching ideas about the aims, approaches, objects and outcomes of these works.
