A Pre-Anchored Sling Technique for Vascular Transposition During Microvascular Decompression
Introduction: We describe a simple modification of sling-based vascular transposition during microvascular decompression (MVD). Methods: One end of the sling is anchored to the petrous dura or tentorium before vessel manipulation, and the free end is then wrapped around the offending vessel for transposition. Results: The technique facilitates sling handling and maintains stable sling orientation throughout vascular transposition. It may be particularly useful in deep operative corridors and during transposition of large-caliber vessels. Conclusion: Pre-anchoring the sling is a simple and reproducible modification that facilitates vascular transposition during MVD.
