Flavobacterium xizangense sp. nov. and Flavobacterium erigeronis sp. nov. isolated from the rhizosphere soil of Erigeron canadensis, Tibet, China

Two yellow-pigmented bacterial strains, designated 3-210 T and 3-218 T , were isolated from the rhizosphere soil of Erigeron canadensis collected from Lhalu Wetland, which is located in the northwest corner of Lhasa, Tibet Autonomous Region, China. The two strains were characterized as Gram-stain-negative, rod-shaped bacteria and both exhibited positive reactions for oxidase and catalase. Based on 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis, the strains were identified as members of the genus Flavobacterium . Digital DNA–DNA hybridization and average nucleotide identity analyses among strains 3-210 T , 3-218 T and their references in the genus Flavobacterium confirmed that they represent two novel species in the genus Flavobacterium . The strains contained MK-6 as the sole respiratory quinone. Common major fatty acids were iso -C 15:0 , C 16:0 , iso -C 15:0 3-OH, iso -C 17:0 3-OH, C 15:1 ω5c and Summed features 3 (C 16:1 ω7 c/C 16:1 ω6c). The polar lipid profiles of strains 3-210 T and 3-218 T were nearly identical, consisting of phosphatidylethanolamine, amino lipid, glycolipid and two unidentified lipids. Based on the result of the polyphasic characterization, the following names are proposed: Flavobacterium xizangense sp. nov., with strain 3-210 T as the type strain (= ACCC 63738 T = CGMCC 30572 T =KCTC 102490 T ) and Flavobacterium erigeronis sp. nov., with strain 3-218 T as the type strain (= ACCC 63282 T = CGMCC 31149 T =KCTC 102399 T ).
