Beyond the Riddle: The Roman Dodecahedron as a Polyvalent Demiurgic Workstation
Short Description: This study re-evaluates the Roman dodecahedron (2nd–4th c. AD) as a "Demiurgic Workstation"—a polyvalent elite instrument for late-antique ritual technology. Moving past traditional utilitarian theories, we introduce computational simulations (Python/Monte Carlo) demonstrating its fourfold function: a biased divinatory die, a nocturnal optical dioptron, an eolian acoustic resonator, and a precision capnomancy smoke-regulator. This work opens a new methodological perspective in digital and experimental archaeology.
