Constitutional Homoeopathic Management of Recurrent Nasal Vestibulitis in a Child
Abstract Nasal vestibulitis is an inflammatory condition involving the nasal vestibule, most commonly caused by bacterial infection or repeated local trauma such as frequent nose picking or excessive nose blowing. Patients typically present with painful crusting, tenderness, nasal obstruction, and occasional bleeding. Although conventional treatment often provides symptomatic relief, recurrence is frequently encountered. Homoeopathy emphasizes individualized constitutional treatment aimed at addressing the patient’s overall susceptibility rather than merely controlling local symptoms. A 4-year-old boy attended the outpatient department with recurrent crust formation in both nostrils for the previous 2 years. The crusts developed following episodes of coryza and progressively resulted in nasal obstruction, painful tenderness on touch, mouth breathing, and intermittent bleeding. Previous conventional treatment produced only temporary improvement. Detailed case taking, evaluation of characteristic mental and physical generals, and repertorial analysis using Hompath Classic Version 8.0 with the Complete Repertory indicated Psorinum as the constitutional remedy. The patient received a single dose of Psorinum 200C, followed by a placebo. Progressive improvement was observed during follow-up, with complete disappearance of nasal crusting, restoration of normal nasal breathing, and no recurrence throughout 6 months of observation. Since sustained improvement continued, repetition of the constitutional remedy was unnecessary.
