O‘zbekistonda irrigatsiyaning rivojlanishi (1950-1990)
Based on archival sources and historical materials, the article analyzes the policy of the Soviet central government aimed at further strengthening the cotton monoculture in Uzbekistan, as reflected in measures undertaken to construct large irrigation canals and pumping stations in the republic. The article also examines the processes of land reclamation and irrigation in the country, as well as the establishment of districts and state farms in these areas specializing in cotton growing under the cotton monopoly policy of the Soviet government. Particular attention is paid to the increase in cotton supplies to the center and its negative consequences, which are analyzed on the basis of historical sources. In addition, the study examines the reclamation of virgin lands in Uzbekistan and the history of state farms established on newly reclaimed lands.
