ERGA-BGE reference genome of the European bladdernut (Staphylea pinnata)

We present a chromosome-level genome assembly for Staphylea pinnata L. (Crossosomatales: Staphyleaceae), commonly known as European bladdernut. The assembly spans 1.56 Gb and comprises 48 contigs assembled into 23 scaffolds. Thirteen chromosome-scale pseudomolecules were recovered, together with the mitochondrial and chloroplast genomes. The contig N50 is 71.16 Mb, and the scaffold N50 is 130.01 Mb. BUSCO analysis using the Eudicots odb10 dataset indicated 95.5% completeness, and the assembly had a Merqury quality value of 60.8. The genome annotation includes 25,870 protein-coding genes and 16,678 non-coding genes. This reference genome provides a genomic resource for S. pinnata and supports future studies of its genome biology, evolution, and biodiversity.
