Peran Zakat Produktif dalam Upaya Meningkatkan Usaha Mikro, Kecil, dan Menengah: Studi Kasus BAZNAS Tangerang Selatan
Productive zakat is a model of zakat utilization aimed at empowering mustahik (zakat recipients) through business capital and business facilities. This study analyzes the role of productive zakat in developing micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) through the Economic Empowerment Program of BAZNAS South Tangerang City, covering its distribution mechanism and its impact on business sustainability and beneficiaries’ income. The study employs a descriptive qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation involving one program administrator and five MSME actors who received assistance, and were analyzed through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings show that assistance in the form of a vending cart and IDR 500,000 in cash capital is distributed in four stages: document submission, interview and verification, production of business facilities, and handover of the assistance, reaching 1,494 beneficiaries during 2022–2025. The assistance reduces the capital burden, makes business premises neater and more practical, and supports business continuity. However, its effect on income growth is not yet significant; some informants reported stagnant income, and one reported a tendency to decline due to weakened purchasing power. Business mentoring and training have not been optimal because of limited human resources, and the educational purpose of the infaq donation box has not been understood evenly. The study concludes that productive zakat contributes more to business sustainability than to income improvement; therefore, strengthening mentoring, training, monitoring, and program socialization is needed.
