RE-ENHANCING THE IMPLEMENTATION OF STORE MANAGEMENT PRACTICES, MATERIAL AVAILABILITY AND FLOW EFFICIENCY FOR IMPROVED PRODUCTION EFFICIENCY IN NIGERIA MANUFACTURING SECTOR

This study explored the effect of store management practices and material availability and flow efficiency on production efficiency in the Nigerian manufacturing sector. Explanatory review research design was used as methodology and the population of the study relied on the review of literature on manufacturing sector. The analysis relies on extant literature sourced from various sources that develop an understanding to unearth the current trends of manufacturing activities that connect to store management practices, material availability and flow efficiency and improved production efficiency in the Nigerian manufacturing sector. Findings revealed that inventory management practices, procurement and receiving practices, storage and material handling practices, information and record management practices and store organisation and personnel practices have significantly and positively influenced production efficiency of Nigerian manufacturing sector. The study concluded that efficient store management practices enhance production output, reduce material wastage, minimise production delays, and improve production efficiency in Nigerian manufacturing sector. The study recommends that manufacturing firms should invest in automated inventory systems, improve warehouse layouts, integrate digital technologies and train store personnel regularly into store operations to achieve optimal production efficiency. This is coupled with an exploratory view on the effect of policy development on store management practices, material availability and flow efficiency that can be used to enhance improved production efficiency in the Nigerian manufacturing sector.
