Critical Aspects of a Business Intelligence Model Development for a Construction Company

Contemporary business organizations focus on the analysis of their own data, transforming them into useful information through Business Intelligence (BI), a collection of methods, tools, and strategies. This research provides a comprehensive framework for the systematic integration of BI principles within a construction organization. Four main phases are defined for the adoption of BI principles in construction project management, while a case study from a Greek construction company corroborates the presented concepts. The research demonstrates the merits of BI for small-sized construction companies, challenging the perception that such Information Technology investments concern only large-scale corporations. Even simple BI solutions can transform scattered data into valuable information that can lead to usable strategic results. Further research could include new data and variables or interconnect the BI solution with the accounting department to provide high-level metadata.

Even simple BI solutions can transform scattered data into valuable information that can lead to usable strategic results. Further research could include new data and variables or interconnect the BI solution with the accounting department to provide high-level metadata.
