Strengthening Financial Literacy and Marketing Skills among Students through a Thematic Community Engagement Program

This community service activity was part of a Thematic Community Service Program (Kuliah Kerja Nyata/KKN) aimed at strengthening students’ financial literacy and marketing skills as a foundation for introducing entrepreneurship. The activity involved 32 tenth-grade students at SMA Kemala Bhayangkari in Bandung City, Indonesia. An educational-participatory approach was employed through basic accounting instruction, interactive quizzes using Kahoot!, demonstrations, and sales pitch simulations. The financial literacy materials covered debit and credit, the basic accounting equation, and simple cash flow, while the marketing materials focused on product features and benefits, hooks, and calls to action. Evaluation was conducted through quiz results and observations of students’ engagement and practical performance. Students participated in the quizzes with scores ranging from 0% to 80%, while all participants were given the opportunity to engage in the educational and marketing practice sessions. The activity provided students with an applied learning experience in understanding the fundamentals of financial management and marketing communication, thereby contributing to the development of their entrepreneurial competencies.
