Bone Flap Rotation and Switch in Treating Pediatric Isolated Unilateral Lambdoid Craniosynostosis (4 Cases Report and Literature Review)
Objective: To summarize the clinical experience of pediatric isolated unilateral lambdoid craniosynostosis treated with bone flap rotation and switch. Methods: Clinical data of pediatric patients with isolated unilateral lambdoid craniosynostosis treated with bone flap rotation and switching from October 2019 to October 2023 were retrospectively studied. The clinical characteristics, surgical pearls, and their effects were analyzed. Results: Four patients underwent bone flap rotation and switch procedures to remodel the posterior calvarial. No adverse events or complications were noted. The vault contour significantly improved, with 3 months to 4 years of follow-up. Conclusions: In treating pediatric isolated unilateral lambdoid craniosynostosis, bone flap rotation and switch was an appropriate procedure because of its definite effect, simultaneous cranioplasty, and skull cavity enlargement.
