Wide Sense Nonblocking Multicast in an Augmented Linear Array
Multicast communication refers to the transmission of information from a single source node to multiple destination nodes at the same time. This type of communication is used in applications such as video streaming, online gaming, and content distribution, where the same data must be delivered to many users simultaneously. Wavelength Division Multiplexing (WDM) optical networks are suitable for such applications because they can transmit large amounts of data over long distances with very low signal loss. In this work, the linear array network is modified by connecting terminal nodes that have a fixed index difference. The resulting structure is called an augmented linear array network. The study focuses on wide-sense nonblocking multicast communication and derives the necessary and sufficient conditions for wavelength requirements in the augmented linear array network.
