An Analytical Assessment of Government Schemes for Agricultural Development with special reference to Amravati District

Abstract Agriculture plays a significant role in India’s economic and rural development. Despite the implementation of various government schemes and financial assistance programmes, farmers in Amravati district continue to face challenges such as low agricultural productivity, indebtedness, inadequate irrigation, and agrarian distress. Against this background, the present study analytically assesses major government schemes implemented for agricultural and economic conditions of farmers in Amravati district. The study adopts a descriptive and analytical approach and is based exclusively on secondary data collected from government reports, agricultural departments websites, statistical reports, academic publications, and reputed newspapers. The analysis focuses on the effectiveness of government interventions in terms of agricultural productivity, irrigation, adoption of modern agricultural inputs, soil health, crop insurance, and socio-economic development. The study indicates that government schemes funding has contributed to agricultural development and improved resilience among farmers; however, challenges related to implementation and access continue to affect their effectiveness. The study concludes that effective grassroots implementation and proactive involvement of both government and farmers are essential for sustainable agricultural development and inclusive growth in Amravati district.
