Posttraumatic Pisotriquetral Instability
Posttraumatic pisotriquetral instability is an uncommon and underdiagnosed injury that can lead to significant morbidity if missed. The limited literature available describes this pathology in the form of case reports. The sturdiness and stability of its ligamentous attachments may explain why dislocations of the pisiform are so rare. We present the case of a patient who presented with pisotriquetral instability following trauma and a pisiform dislocation with triquetum fracture. Treatment included pisiform resection with excellent results. The literature and treatment outcomes are reviewed.
