Leadership and the shaping of a field: a study of presidents of the International Association for Feminist Economics
This article studies the history of feminist economics by focusing on the work of the first 26 presidents of the International Association for Feminist Economists (IAFFE). We combine different types of materials and mix qualitative and bibliometric methods to capture how this group of women helped to shape the field and measure their intellectual links. This group of women does not represent the entire field of feminist economics. Nevertheless, their research and administrative responsibilities, their intellectual interactions and the way they embody a willingness to diversify the association’s leadership and membership are key pieces in the history of feminist economics.
