Integration of Series Values in The Implementation of The Indonesian Language Compulsory Curriculum Course (MKWK) at Cokroaminoto University Palopo

Abstract This study aims to describe the form of integration of series values in the implementation of the Indonesian Language Compulsory Curriculum Course (MKWK) at Cokroaminoto University Palopo. The value of siri' as the local wisdom of the Bugis-Makassar community is seen as having relevance in strengthening the character of students, especially in building academic ethics, honesty, responsibility, and respect for the dignity of self and others. The research uses a qualitative approach with a phenomenological type to understand the subjective experiences of students and lecturers related to the internalization of series values in the learning process. The research informants consist of lecturers, students, and curriculum managers who are selected purposively. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observations, and documentation studies, then analyzed using the Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña models through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawn. The validity of the data is carried out through triangulation of sources and techniques, member checking, and increasing observation diligence. The results of the study show that the integration of series values is realized through various learning strategies, such as giving advice before lectures, the use of contextual stories, reflective discussions, strengthening academic communication ethics, habituating discipline, cultivating academic honesty, and setting examples by lecturers. The process of internalizing the value of seri' is reflected in the three dimensions of character education, namely moral knowing, moral feeling, and moral action. Students begin to understand siri' not only as shame in the traditional sense, but also as a moral control mechanism that encourages academic behavior with integrity. Despite this, excessive shyness and low self-confidence are still challenges in the actualization of these values. This study concludes that the integration of series values in MKWK Bahasa Indonesia contributes significantly to strengthening student character and can be a learning model based on local wisdom that is relevant to the needs of higher education in the global era.
