New Record of Cruentomycena viscidocruenta (Cleland) R.H. Petersen and Kovalenko (Mycenaceae, Agaricomycetes) from Sabah (Northern Borneo), Malaysia

Abstract Multiple Cruentomycena individuals were collected from lowland dipterocarp forests in Sabah, northern Borneo, specifically within the pristine tropical forests of the Danum Valley Conservation Area and the Maliau Basin Conservation Area. To date, only four species have been described within this genus worldwide. Based on detailed morphological examination and molecular analyses of internal transcribed spacer (ITS) rDNA sequences, the collected specimens were identified as Cruentomycena viscidocruenta, representing the first record of this species in Sabah, Malaysia. Here, we report a new distributional record of C. viscidocruenta and present morphological observations, molecular sequence data, and an updated phylogenetic analysis.
