Acute haemorrhagic vulvar discharge and pollakiuria in a 9‐year‐old female spayed Whippet

Abstract A 9‐year‐old female spayed Whippet was presented for acute haemorrhagic vulvar discharge and pollakiuria. A cystoscopy and contrast computed tomography (CT) study of the thorax and abdomen revealed a large lobulated mass in the left pelvic canal with multifocal pulmonary nodules. Fine‐needle aspirates of the pelvic canal mass were consistent with malignant neoplasia with priority given to uterine stump hemangiosarcoma (HSA). Given there is no published data on treatment for uterine HSA, treatment recommendations were extrapolated from other visceral HSA. The owner elected palliative care including pain relief. Approximately one month post diagnosis, the dog had persistent, excessive haemorrhagic vulvar discharge, the dog was humanely euthanized the same week.
