IMPACT OF ETHICAL LEADERSHIP ON TEACHERS' JOB PERFORMANCE IN PUBLIC SECONDARY SCHOOLS IN FCT ABUJA
This study investigated the impact of ethical leadership on teachers' job performance in public secondary schools in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja. The research design used for this study was the correlational survey research design. The target population consisted of 4,152 teachers and 90 principals across all 90 public secondary schools in FCT, Abuja. The sample size consisted of 72 respondents (60 academic staff and 12 principals) selected using multi-stage sampling techniques. Data were collected using the Impact of Ethical Leadership on Teachers' Job Performance Questionnaire (IELTJPQ). The research questions were answered using descriptive statistics of mean and standard deviation, while multiple linear regression analysis was specified to test the null hypotheses at the 0.05 level of significance. The study revealed that ethical leadership dimensions—specifically principal integrity, fairness, administrative accountability, and participatory decision-making—exert a significant impact on teachers' job performance. The study recommended that school principals actively model integrity, operational fairness, structural accountability, and participatory governance to enhance teacher motivation and overall school effectiveness.
