How Much Is a Flight to Paris? Round-Trip Fares from the United States by City, Month and Booking Lead Time, Ticket Taxes, and US–France Air Traffic from Fare-Search, US DOT, DGAC and Airport Data, 1990–2026
We describe what a round-trip flight from the United States to Paris costs and how the transatlantic market that carries it has developed. Aggregated price statistics from a commercial fare-search site show an average round trip of USD 868 over the twelve months to 27 September 2026. The median fare ranged from USD 623 for January travel to USD 1,155 for June, 1.85 times as much, while the day of the week and the time of day moved the average by at most USD 112. Averages were lowest about five weeks before departure (USD 833), 15.0% below the final week (USD 980). Among six departure cities, New York was the cheapest at USD 706 and Orlando the dearest at USD 910. Government charges on an economy round trip, US federal taxes and fees, one US passenger facility charge and France's solidarity tax on airline tickets (EUR 40 on long-distance flights since 1 March 2025), totalled USD 120.99, 13.9% of the average fare. US Department of Transportation data record 9,250,567 passengers on nonstop flights between the US and France in 2025, a record 4.9% above 2019 and 2.64 times the 1990 level; Air France operated 17,915 of the 37,252 flights between the US and Paris. The French civil aviation authority's count for 2024 agrees with the US count to within 0.4%. Paris-Charles de Gaulle and Paris-Orly handled 106,958,316 passengers in 2025, 11.8% of them to or from North America, but North American traffic in August 2026 was 5.3% below a year earlier.
