How Old Are Carnival Cruise Ships? Fleet Age, Capacity, Onboard Prices and Company Revenue of Carnival Cruise Line from Ship Fact Sheets, Price Pages and Form 10-K Filings, 2003–2026
Cruise ships are long-lived assets, and the age of a fleet shapes both what guests experience and how a line grows. We assemble public data on the 29 ships of Carnival Cruise Line in 2026 from the line's ship fact sheets and history, its price and policy pages, and the Form 10-K filings of Carnival Corporation & plc for fiscal 2003–2025. Measured from each hull's first entry into service, the fleet averaged 18.0 years (median 21), from the 30-year-old Carnival Sunshine to the 3-year-old Carnival Jubilee; 15 ships (52%) were 20 years or older, but the guest-weighted average age was 15.9 years because the newest ships are the largest. The three Excel-class ships, at up to 183,521 gross tons, held 17.0% of the fleet's 94,330 guest berths and carried 3.07 guests per crew member against 2.29 in the Spirit class. Brand capacity rose 2.17 times, from 43,446 lower berths on 20 ships in fiscal 2003 to 94,340 on 29 ships in 2025, while berths per ship rose from 2,172 to 3,253. Across all brands, the group took USD 171.28 in ticket revenue and USD 90.48 in onboard and other revenue per passenger cruise day in fiscal 2025, when revenue reached a record USD 26,622 million. Listed 5-night fares started at USD 395 per person in an interior cabin; the automatic gratuity of USD 17 per person per day and port parking added 36.7% to the cheapest fare for two. All inputs are public.
