Adaptation and Validation of the Couple Flourishing Measure Among Spaniards
ABSTRACT Flourishing in couple relationships represents an optimal state of relational well‐being that integrates satisfaction, meaning, and mutual growth. Although related instruments exist, few measures have been specifically developed to assess couple flourishing as an integrated construct within intimate relationships. This study aimed to adapt and validate the Couple Flourishing Measure in a sample of 543 Spanish adults aged 18–75 years ( M age = 49.59; SD = 12.81). For this purpose, we used the Couple Flourishing Measure and other related scales to observe convergent validity, such as the Dyadic Adjustment Scale, the Global Measure of Relationship Satisfaction of the Interpersonal Exchange Model of Sexual Satisfaction Questionnaire, and the Satisfaction with Life Scale. The scale was adapted and translated into Spanish. Exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses were conducted, as well as assessments of convergent validity and temporal stability. The scale demonstrated a unidimensional internal structure, high reliability ( α = 0.94) for assessing Couple Flourishing, expected associations with related measures, and temporal stability over one‐ and two‐month intervals. Additionally, percentiles for the scale were calculated for different age groups (i.e., 18–35, 36–55, and 56+). The Spanish CFM provides researchers with a brief and reliable instrument for assessing relational flourishing and examining changes in relational well‐being in nonclinical populations.
