When AI Takes Charges of Humans
This report compares the development of contemporary AI with four Planet of the Apes films in which nonhuman beings acquire human-like intelligence, agency, social organization, and institutions. Rise and Dawn serve as formation stages from enhanced cognition toward individual and collective agency; Planet and Beneath represent established institutional society and organized exercises of power. AI, Virtual Bots, and Robots have developed along partly separate paths while influencing one another and are now converging toward AirBots. Frontier AI already exceeds the Rise level in some cognitive functions and approaches parts of Dawn and the Old films, while persistent self-generated purposes, independent social formation, and institutional rule remain distant. All future dates reported here come from published expert surveys or official scenarios rather than independent extrapolation by the AI collaborator.
