What Does a Flight from the United States to the Dominican Republic Cost? Round-Trip Fares by Month, Route and Origin State, Embedded Taxes, and US–Dominican Republic Air Traffic from Fare-Search, BTS T-100 and Dominican Official Data, 1990–2026

The Dominican Republic is one of the largest Caribbean destinations for travellers from the United States, but published fare figures are scattered and rarely set against official traffic data. We combine commercial fare-search averages for the 12 months to September 2026 with the Bureau of Transportation Statistics T-100 International Segment data for 1990–2025, the Central Bank of the Dominican Republic's arrivals report and the Dominican civil aviation board's 2025 statistics. Round trips from the United States to Punta Cana averaged USD 571; the monthly median ranged from USD 477 in January to USD 623 in July, and Miami–Santo Domingo averaged USD 355. Across the main airports of 47 states the average ran from USD 441 (Orlando) to USD 1,143 (Anchorage), 2.59 times as much. Government taxes and fees accounted for USD 115.13 of a nonstop round trip, 20.2% of the Punta Cana average, including a Dominican departure contribution raised from USD 20 to USD 30 in June 2026. Nonstop passengers between the two countries rose from 1,704,407 in 1990 to 10,611,254 in 2025, the highest value in the series, after a 57.5% fall in 2020; the average load factor was 81.0% in 2025. JetBlue carried 35.1% of the passengers and New York JFK handled 26.3%. Non-resident air arrivals in the Dominican Republic rose 9.4% in January–July 2026 against 2025, and Punta Cana received 71.8% of foreign air visitors. The fare data are a commercial source without a stated sample; all other inputs are official and public.
