Reverence for Virtue: An Independent Chapter of Jing-Rong Philosophical Reflections
Jing-Rong Philosophical Reflections (JRPR) comprises a series of independent articles, dedicated to revealing original philosophical concepts and rules grounded in Reverence (Jìng) and Vital Harmony (Róng). Based on the Value Law and bounded by the Domain (Yù), this paper defines the connotation of Virtue (Dé). Drawing on the historical allusion of the Harmony of the General and Chancellor, it concretely inquires into the judgment criteria and practical forms of Virtue, puts forward original concepts including the Three Establishments and Three Debates (Sān Lì Sān Biàn), the Debate on Domain-Benefiting (Lì Yù Zhī Biàn), and the Three States of Virtue (Dé Zhī Sān Tài), forms an original cognitive framework of virtue theory characterized by establishment as the foundation, Domain-benefiting as the orientation, Domain first and self second, clarifies the logical sequence of Reverence – Lucid Realization – Virtue – Malleable Nature (Xìng), presents philosophical insights into moral practice under the integration of the human person, Domain and Dao, and provides a new perspective for cross-cultural dialogue on moral philosophy.
