Sulfolenocorrole as a Chameleon-Like Tecton Enabling the Construction of Multiring Fused Corroles
Abstract In addition to β,β-fusions based on the Diels–Alder reaction of sulfolenocorrole, meso,β-fusion has been realized, enabling the synthesis of multiring fused corroles (CuF3x). The obtained unique conjugation systems afford intense π-stacking and pronounced bathochromic absorption with a broad peak around 1280 nm. Upon theoretical calculations and NMR analysis, the multifusions suppress the noninnocent feature of the corrole ligand; meanwhile, CuF3x and HF3M are proposed to be weakly antiaromatic and nonaromatic, respectively.
