Whole-genome sequence of Lacticaseibacillus paracasei TOKAI 83 m, isolated from pickled Chinese yam in Japan

Lacticaseibacillus paracasei is a probiotic lactic acid bacterium isolated from various fermented foods. Our previous study showed that L. paracasei TOKAI 83 m (TK83m), isolated from pickled Chinese yam in Japan, exhibits high heavy metal biosorption via its cell surface proteins and has probiotic potential. However, its complete genome has not been characterized, limiting analysis for secretion mechanism of proteins such as GAPDH, and safety assessment. Therefore, this study aimed to determine a high-quality complete genome sequence of TK83m that will be useful for future studies, as well as to evaluate its safety. We report the complete genome sequence of L. paracasei TK83m, isolated from pickled Chinese yam in Japan. The genome consists of one chromosome (3,073,721 bp) and five plasmids (60,926, 47,796, 11,058, 8,024, and 5,087 bp), with a total length of 3,206,612 bp and a GC content of 46.1%. It encodes 3,116 CDSs, 15 rRNAs, 59 tRNAs, and one CRISPR locus. Safety analyses supported its do not have resistance and virulence genes. This genome provides a valuable resource for future studies of protein secretion mechanisms and other functional analyses.
