UNDERSTANDING AGNI AND METABOLIC SYNDROME – A CONCEPTUAL REVIEW
Metabolic Syndrome has emerged as a significant global health challenge, representing a cluster of metabolic disturbances including central obesity, insulin resistance, and hypertension. While modern pharmacology targets specific biomarkers, the Ayurvedic perspective provides a systemic understanding centered on the functional integrity of Agni. This conceptual review explores the Jatharagni–Dhatvagni axis as a "Centralized Governance Model" to decode systemic pathogenesis. By analyzing classical texts of the Brihatrayi and authoritative commentaries, this study identifies Jatharagni as the Adhipa, the sovereign arbiter of biological transformation. The syndrome is viewed as a state of metabolic anarchy triggered by Gramya Ahara. Effective clinical management necessitates a paradigm shift from peripheral symptom control toward a centralized restoration of the metabolic fire through the systematic application of Saṃśodhana and Rasāyana.
