FALSIFIABILITY AND REPRODUCIBILITY. POPPER'S CRITERION AS A CRITERION OF ENGINEERING, NOT OF SCIENCE.
This preprint extends Calculation Is Only a Tool. It shows that the criteria proposed to define science in the twentieth century describe the functioning of engineering. Popper, Kuhn, Lakatos, Feyerabend, Laudan, Hacking. All sought a criterion of demarcation. None distinguished engineering from reading. The consequence is direct. If reproducible falsifiability is the criterion of science, then science is only an engineering. Any reading of reality is excluded by construction. Yet TRUE satisfies the criteria of a genuine theory. It is falsifiable. It is predictive. It is not for all that an engineering. It is not replaced. It is confirmed or it collapses. It guides science. It does not replace it.
