Perbandingan Pengaruh Latihan Menggunakan Metode drill dan short interval Training Terhadap Kecepatan Renang Gaya Bebas

This study aimed to determine the effect of the drill and short-interval training methods on 25-meter freestyle swimming performance. The study employed a quasi-experimental method using a two-group pretest–posttest design. The sample consisted of 25 athletes from Banyu Pratama Swimming Club (BPC), who were divided into two groups: the drill group (10 athletes) and the short-interval group (10 athletes). The research instrument was a 25-meter freestyle swimming test, while data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, the Shapiro–Wilk normality test, and the paired-samples t-test. The results showed that both training methods had a significant effect on 25-meter freestyle swimming performance (p < 0.05). The drill group improved by reducing the mean swimming time from 19.88 seconds to 18.08 seconds, representing an improvement of 1.82 seconds. Meanwhile, the short-interval group reduced the mean swimming time from 19.88 seconds to 19.21 seconds, representing an improvement of 0.66 seconds. Therefore, both training methods were effective in improving 25-meter freestyle swimming performance; however, the drill training method produced greater improvements than the short-interval training method.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of the drill and short-interval training methods on 25-meter freestyle swimming performance. The study employed a quasi-experimental method using a two-group pretest–posttest design. The sample consisted of 25 athletes from Banyu Pratama Swimming Club (BPC), who were divided into two groups: the drill group (10 athletes) and the short-interval group (10 athletes).
