Correlation between Maximum Length and Mid-Shaft Circumference in Adult Human Fibulae in Bangladeshi Population.

The aim of this osteometrical study was to note the correlation between maximum length and mid-shaft circumference of adult human fibula. In this study the materials contained total 300 (152 right and 148 left) fully ossified and dry human fibula samples and all those samples were selected through the purposive sampling technique from the Department of Anatomy, Mymensingh Medical College Mymensingh, Bangladesh from January 2023 to December 2023. Any malformed and non-calcified bones were prohibited from this study. Only adult and fully intact bones are applied in this study. All Data of this study were tabulated and statistically studied by using Microsoft Excel and SPSS software. The maximum length and mid-shaft circumference of the fibula was measured by using a metallic scale and a measuring tape. The mean±SD of maximum length of both sided fibula was found on right side 34.32±2.05 cm and on left side 34.40±2.26 cm respectively and the mean±SD of mid-shaft circumference of both sided fibula was found on right side 4.22±0.49 cm and 4.21±0.53 cm on left side. In this anatomical and statistical study a positive correlation was executed between the maximum length and mid-shaft circumference of fibulae and through the regression analysis hare we found r=0.258 on right side and r=0.427 on left sided fibula. The difference were statistically significant on both sides and p value was <0.001.
