Flipped AI Literacy Classrooms: Student Motivation and Engagement in Secondary Education
Slides of the presentation at ICL2026 (TH Köln, Cologne, Germany). The talk presents a study on how secondary school students experienced a flipped classroom design using the AI literacy platform prompting.school with regard to motivation, engagement and perceived learning. One implementation cycle with 56 students was evaluated through a post-unit questionnaire. Results indicate high interest in artificial intelligence, positive perceptions of the platform, strong task clarity and a heterogeneous but moderate motivational effect of gamification. Flipped designs for AI literacy work well when pre-class platform work and in-class activities are explicitly aligned and supported by clear tasks.
