Association Between Oral Frailty and Dietary Intake in Community-Dwelling Older Japanese Women: A Cross-Sectional Study
The association between oral frailty (OF) and dietary intake in 53 community-dwelling older Japanese women was explored. OF assessment and dietary surveys were conducted. The OF group had a significantly lower protein-to-energy ratio (PE), vitamin D, potassium, calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, and fish and shellfish intake compared with the non-OF group. Protein-to-energy ratio, calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, and fish and shellfish intake were independently associated with OF (all P < .05). These findings suggest that OF is associated with intakes of some nutrients, highlighting the importance of dietary considerations in managing OF among older women.
